Driveway work in Bray: what we see on the ground
Bray's geology is varied and it matters for driveway construction. The seafront roads and lower town sit on relatively soft ground with a high water table in places — we always check drainage carefully before specifying a base depth, and on the lower-lying roads we often recommend a deeper build-up or a French drain to the rear of the driveway. The hillside estates off Killarney Road and Boghall Road sit on firmer ground but have steeper gradients that require careful fall design to prevent water sheeting towards the house.
The town has a wide mix of property types: Victorian and Edwardian terraces on the seafront and around the town centre, 1960s–1980s semis in Ballywaltrim, Ravenswell and Oldcourt, and newer builds in Fassaroe and the developments off the Southern Cross Road.
